About
Appalon is yet another website dedicated to reviewing, previewing, and just plain old rambling on about iPhone apps, games, and other stuff. Since the App Store’s release and content system is a pretty disorganized mess, it’s pretty easy for some random app to go under the radar. It can also sometimes be hard to find decent reviews of some lesser-known apps–since there are so many of them–so perhaps this site can also help inject a little more information into the interwebs.
This website was started by Hunter Morrison, a slightly-obese white guy in his early twenties who starts a lot of webpages as writing projects, and then abandons them after a month or two. In fact, the whole layout for this site is essentially the same as another one of his sites, just with slightly different colors. Hopefully Appalon won’t end up like the others, but who knows, it probably will.
Contributing as well is John Ramey, another white guy in his early twenties. John, however, is pretty far from obese. John has occasionally written, but most of the time he has eschewed serious writing in favor of writing about toes being torn off with bolt clippers. Seriously, one time he wrote about that. I think it was in high school, for some English paper. Wait, …where was I?
Surprisingly enough, both of these guys pretty much have lived similar lives. Both grew up in Hawaii, graduated from the University of Hawaii, and have day jobs as English teachers in Asia, albeit in different countries. Hunter and John both have enough disposable income and are irresponsible enough with their money that they own overpriced consumer electronics. Hunter currently runs an iPhone 3G and John has a 2nd-generation iPod Touch, and these boys love to waste their money downloading apps for these things. Apparently, both of them are also nerdy enough to want to write about these apps that they waste their money on. Now that’s dedication.
Appalon isn’t about cutting-edge reviews, talking about the latest and greatest. There are a few other sites that already do that quite well. We hope to catalog those which slip through the cracks, things that may have come out months ago, were played by nobody, and have developers that slit their wrists over the app’s terrible sales. Okay, and fine, sometimes we’ll write about whatever is new and big–well, as big as an iPhone app can get, anyways.
The point is, whatever here is whatever interests us. Unless otherwise noted, we’re not benefiting in any from the apps we promote here. If, for some unknown reason, a developer wants to give us a promo code to let us review their app, we will let you know, but otherwise, assume that our own hard-earned digital cash is being spent on whatever it is we’re talking about, so hopefully our content will reflect the real app store shopper’s opinion.
Well, perhaps we’re running a bit long here. To be honest, no one is really expected to read this page, so if you’re reading it, we’re not exactly sure why. In fact, almost surely, something is wrong with you! There is content on this page, other content, fresh, beautiful content. Go! Read! On the little sidebar to your right there! Click! Enjoy!
