And so it begins…

by John Ramey

Hello there folks.  It’s currently 10:36p.m. in South Korea, and I’m sitting here with my 9 week old puppy on my lap.  What a great time to try to make a post!  So what to do?  Why not start with a quick introduction of who I am, what I do, and why the hell I’m posting stuff on the internet.

Well the best of the three, and by far the quickest to explain, is the last one.  Why am I posting things on the internet?  That is a pretty good question, and one I can’t really easily answer.  Basically I got asked by a good friend of mine if I wanted to write up reviews of apps.  I figured why not, I mean I’m just as qualified as the rest of the reviewers out there.  In fact I’m more qualified than a lot of the folks that post reviews on iTunes, I have both a high school and a university degree.  Hell I’m gainfully employed.  That’s got to mean something, right?

Now, with that out of the way, I guess I should introduce myself.  My name is John.  I’m currently 23 years old and live in Seoul, South Korea.  I’m working full time as an English teacher over here.  But please forgive me any grammatical errors I make, I teach elementary school children.  While I know more than enough grammar to teach to children, I am far from a grammar whiz.  I didn’t major in English, or even study it beyond my general ed.

With all that out of the way, I do spend an unhealthy amount of my time playing around with my iPod Touch.  I don’t have the luxury of having an iPhone (mainly because Korea doesn’t have them) but that doesn’t stop me.  I got a Touch on the recommendation of the website boss, set up a wireless network so I could use my Touch in my room, and have spent a good chunk of change on apps.  I generally screw around with my apps at least an hour or two a day.  Nothing makes the time fly while my students are taking tests like a 10-20 minute play time on the Touch!  And damn if the Touch doesn’t let me watch my TV shows while my dog sleeps.

Between my work, my puppy, and my social life I don’t have a ton of free time so I’m going to have to be a good boy and work on keeping you guys up to date on my App Store-related thoughts.  I hope to keep all you guys out there happy and coming back to the site for information on what apps to get, what to avoid, and what is at least worth a gander.

Until next time folks!
